Self-care is not selfish

I used to think self-care was selfish because it cost too much and I was just too busy to do it.

I’m learning that not only is it not selfish it’s necessary to be the best me that I can be.

Here are six ways I practice self-care that cost no money.

  1. Take the dog for a walk (walking helps me to unlock my creativity and puts me in a peaceful place).

  2. Turn off social media (well we all know this is good and why).

  3. Sit in my quiet space for 30 min and do nothing (for me it's the bathroom or my car).

  4. Talk or do something to my daughter (we are so busy that sometimes we forget to stop and spend time with the people we love).

  5. Watch Youtube or listen to a podcast (something funny - we are so serious all the time when was the last time you laughed).

  6. Reach out to a friend or family member you haven't talk to in a long time and have a real conversation. (this is my favorite thing to do now as my aunts are getting older listing to their stories and hearing them laugh brings me the most joy).
